Alliance for the Great Lakes Working to Keep Our Great Lakes Clean The mission of the Alliance for the Great Lakes is to conserve and restore the world's largest freshwater resource using policy, education, and local efforts, ensuring a healthy Great Lakes and clean water for generations of people and wildlife. Headquartered in Chicago, the Alliance also has staff in Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit, and Buffalo, who work alongside more than 15,000 active volunteers and advocates across the region for Great Lakes protection and restoration.
The Alliance’s work spans policy—through advocacy campaigns that address the greatest threats to the Lakes, such as marine debris and microplastics—to volunteer programs and education, engaging more than 15,000 volunteers in beach cleanups and more than 60,000 (K–12) students in Great Lakes education across the region—to collaborating locally with cities, residents, and community organizations to drive support for investment in water, such as a current project to develop a community-driven plan for a transformed and vital riverscape along the Calumet River in Southeast Chicago.
With clean water critical to the production of quality beer, we wholeheartedly support the Alliance’s efforts to keep the Great Lakes—our source of water here in Chicago!—clean. Proceeds from this year’s Brewery Band Ballyhoo will benefit the Alliance for the Great Lakes. Please consider making a donation to the Alliance, joining their email list to learn more about Great Lakes issues and how to get involved, and following them on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to keep up!
